I’ve written a bit about Frederick Bodmer’s approach to acquiring a core vocabulary in a language for beginners. I then created a vocabulary list for Spanish of 250 entries inspired by those principles.
Here, I construct sentences drawn from that vocabulary list. This is both an exercise in sentence construction as well as a demonstration of the level of communication that can be accomplished with a limited vocabulary (~250 words or phrases) if the selection of those vocabulary entries include the class of words Bodmer recommends in his book.
